About

About GCU Preceptor Support

We are an independent service that helps Grand Canyon University nursing students secure a qualified preceptor and a GCU-approved clinical site, the part of the practicum students are most often left to arrange on their own.

Who we are

GCU Preceptor Support is an independent, third-party preceptor and clinical-placement support service built for Grand Canyon University nursing students. Our focus is narrow on purpose: we help you find a qualified preceptor and a GCU-approved clinical site so you can complete your supervised practicum hours and stay on track toward graduation.

We exist because of a genuine, well-documented pain point in nurse-practitioner education. Preceptor spots fill up fast, and students frequently delay graduation simply because they could not secure one in time. GCU’s programs generally make students responsible for identifying their own preceptor and site, with the university’s Office of Field Experience supporting setup and approving each selected site. That responsibility is exactly the gap we step into.

Whether you are in the FNP, AGACNP, or PMHNP track, each requiring 750 hours of directly supervised clinical practice, or pursuing the DNP, a post-master’s certificate, or the RN-to-BSN practicum, our role is to reduce the search burden so you can focus on your coursework and immersions.

Important: we are not affiliated with GCU

We want to be completely clear from the start. GCU Preceptor Support is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Grand Canyon University. We are an independent company that assists GCU students. GCU does not place, assign, secure, or guarantee preceptors, and neither do we.

What we do is assist. We help you identify and connect with a qualified preceptor and a clinical site that you and your faculty can then take through GCU’s required approval process. GCU’s Office of Field Experience and its field experience specialists support the setup, help with the application, confirm health and safety requirements, and must approve your selected site to meet practicum standards. Approval of any particular site rests with GCU, not with us. We do not guarantee placement, outcomes, or that GCU will approve a specific site.

Two ways we help

We offer two service routes, and you can use whichever fits your program and situation.

The first is physical placement matching, our primary service for nurse-practitioner clinical hours. We work to connect you with a local preceptor and an appropriate in-person site: primary or family care for FNP, an acute-care setting for AGACNP, and a psych or mental-health setting for PMHNP.

The second is a virtual practicum service for telehealth and remote clinical experience where applicable. We present this as a service offering; whether it fits your program and is approved is determined through GCU’s normal process, not by us.

Accreditation context

Grand Canyon University is a private Christian university in Phoenix, Arizona, and has been institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1968. GCU’s BSN, MSN, DNP, and post-graduate APRN certificate nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

We share this context because it matters when you are evaluating your program and your clinical requirements. Compliance for your placement runs through GCU’s instructions and a third-party clinical-compliance platform, simply follow the steps GCU provides, and we will support you on the preceptor and site side.

Work with us

If you are a GCU nursing student trying to lock in a preceptor before spots run out, we can help. Start by reading how it works, review our preceptor requirements and clinical hours guidance, or find a preceptor to begin.

You only pay when we match you. That keeps our incentives aligned with yours: a qualified preceptor and an approvable site, so you can finish your practicum on time.
